The second edition of Rea! Art Fair is first up on the busy calendar of events dedicated to art and design that mark the reopening of Milan in September 2021.
From 4 to 6 September, at the Fabbrica del Vapore, ReA! Art Fair returns to propose an idea of a fair that focuses on the young and independent artists – not yet represented by galleries – to offer them a very first platform to meet with collectors, to get an introduction to the art market and gallery system.
The event is ideated and directed by a team of twelve young female entrepreneurs and is supported by the Municipality of Milan and the Cariplo Foundation.
The fair presents the works of 100 Italian and international artists, selected – from over 600 applications – by a committee composed of emerging curators Maria Myasnikova, Milena Zanetti, Laura Pieri, Paola Shiamtani and Pelin Zeytinci.
The curatorial approach structures the event as a single, organic, exhibition that is an interactive and multimedia flow, divided into seven sections: painting, sculpture, photography, digital art, installation, performance and street art. The prices of all works are indicated and transparent.
For this year’s edition, ReA! awards a total of 12 artists 3 prizes: “Artsted Art Prize” and “ReA! Art Prize”, and the 2021 Edition “Look Forward” special prize.
The two awards are chaired by an external jury composed of Irene Cassina (gallerist, co-founder of Cassina Projects), Marco Enrico Giacomelli (deputy director of Artribune), Chiara Nuzzi (curator, ICA Milano) and Luca Zuccala (journalist, deputy director of Artslife , director of State Of Milan).
The “Artsted Art Prize” is a cash prize of 1,500 euros, born from the collaboration between ReA! Art Fair and Artsted, a digital marketplace that promotes the work of emerging artists according to criteria of maximum transparency; the second “ReA! Art Prize ”consists of a group exhibition for ten artists to be held in 2022.
Finally, the 2021 Edition “Look Forward” special prize is an artist residency that will take place in Naples, at SuperOtium hotel, and which avails itself of the support of Silent Art Explorer, a project supporting emerging talents co-founded by Giulio Raffaele and Aurora Rossini. The residency is intended for a single winner selected by a commission composed of the scientific committee of ReA! together with Silent Art Explorer, SuperOtium and Tiziana Di Caro (gallerist).
Conceived by a group of professionals under 35, aimed at emerging artists and an equally young collectors audience, “ReA! Art Fair takes a position alongside emerging artists and visual arts students”– declares the management team – ”and wants to build a dialogue between new talents and the art world, gallery owners, curators and institutions, but also collectors and the general public, to create opportunities and added value for artists taking their first steps in a challenging market “.
